Players considering buying this game as a part of the Trine Ultimate Collection should be aware that the physical version of this collection requires a sizeable download to play the first three Trine games, as well as a download for the added DLC content for Trine 4. However, one of the other joys of this game is its co-op, which is absolutely superb, and having players helping each other through the game's puzzles makes for one of the better Co-Op experiences to be had on the Switch. It's one of those things you tolerate when it pops up because the rest of the game is so good that it's worth pushing on. Of course, while combat is less frequent here, it's still a part of the game, and it's still problematic. In its place is simply an excellent Puzzle-Platformer with gameplay that encourages players to use the three characters' unique abilities to find solution to its physics-based puzzles. The controls are less stiff and unforgiving, and the combat is thankfully far less frequent. Despite this game's age, it's still a joy to watch. While they are a bit rough in places (notably, some shadows look jagged and jittery), for the most part this game is stunningly beautiful, with highly detailed environments bursting with life, wonderful lighting effects, and wonderful colors that burst off the screen. This is thanks in part to the game's absolutely gorgeous graphics.

Also, this version of Trine 2 includes all previous content released for the game, making it a comprehensive version of the game.

While this game was originally released nearly a decade ago, it has aged surprisingly well. Trine 2 is a Puzzle-Platformer that takes the basic concept introduced in Trine, where players swap between three characters with different abilities to get past physics-based puzzles and traps, and improves on it in just about every way. It is also included in Trine Ultimate Collection, along with Trine: Enchanted Edition, Trine 3: Artifacts of Power, and Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince. Note: This game is included in Trine Series 1-3, along with Trine: Enchanted Edition, and Trine 3: Artifacts of Power.
